Why do Emo kids catch so much hell? My son is Emo, has long hair, in his eyes and dresses what?

some may call a little off the beaten path or strange. He is a great kid and causes me no problems. Why are people so judgemental in this world? I would rather him dress with the tight " girl" jeans than to have his pants hanging down to his knees with his boxers hanging out. Anyone else have a teen that dresses this way and if so how do you feel about it?

i mean, i dont' have a kid like that, i am a kid like that, i mean i'm a girl, but i hang out with kids like that, and i have the female side of that style, i guess. i've realized that no real 'emo' kid will say they're 'emo' and so posers get a lot of crap about ti, but i don't have a problem with it, at first my mom laughed at the boys who dressed this way, but then too realized that she'd rather see a guy in tight pants then a guy in super baggy pants, i don't think it's right for parents to be judgemental, but nobody can stop it.

furthermore, for the more shallow part of the arguement, hair in boys eyes is so prettttyyy. :D

my hair's in my eyes, my best friends hair is in her eyes, my best four guy friends have hair in their eyes, and so people should just deal.

and i'm very thankful that some parents can see that it's not an awful thing to be dressing this way.

My son is going through the same thing. I think people make fun of that which they don't understand and unfortunately Emo kids are judged on appearance alone. Most of my sons friends are really great kids and it is a shame to see how they are treated.

I think it is great that you do not try to force your child to be something he is not. He is lucky to have you as a mother--good for you.

do you know what emo really is?u may think your son is ok but hes not...emo kids cut them selves for attention and depression and listen to that sad punk songs.if he's emo he has problems that you as a parent should talk to him.emo means emotions(emotion teenagers that have problems and issues),hes not telling you something.

Stereotyping is easier than getting to know someone. Look at what 'd4rkprincess84' said - that's all most people see when they notice the emo style, they won't even bother to see if it's real or not.
