i cut hair like that all the time the trick is use a rasor blade brush or to improvise use a evebrow shaper their the ones that have the razor at the end and straighten ur hair upwards insted of to the side dont be afraid to razor it specialy whit the emo look or if ur to scared to doit ur self go to a hair salon and ask for the japan hair style short onthe top long on the bottom tell understand u

Lolol, I wouldn't necessarily call me scene, but I do have scene-ish hair.

What I did was get straight bangs, short layers on top, and some extensions on the bottom.

With the bangs, I put some Bedhead wax stuff, and wiped them to the side. Then I teased my hair [like a bird's nest] with regular hairspray from Target and a teasing comb. And with the extensions, I made my hair a little longer. And I could still use those $5 bows from Claire's.

My mom completely hates my hair, but I love it. :D

its all about good PRODUCTS and a good CUT!!! for flat hair i always tell my clients to buy SO YOU WANT FLAT HAIR, by BIG SEXY HAIR. its a thermal spray that will make your hair stick straight. and it will protect your hair so it does get damaged as much. then you would need a pomade. something like DRY WAX, by PAUL MITCHELL. it has really good hold and is kinda gritty so it give you a perfectly slept in, dirty look....
